5 U.S. Athletes Win Jr. Masters' Titles

U.S. water ski athlete Adam Pickos won the men's tricks title at the 17th Junior Masters.
Hensley, of Hixson, Tenn., won the women's slalom and overall titles. She scored 2 buoys at 38 feet off in slalom to finish ahead of France's Ambre Franc (4-1/4 buoys at 32 feet off) and New Zealand's Stacey Gilbert (3-1/2 buoys at 32 feet off). Hensley tallied 2,698.3 points to clinch the overall title. Hensley also won Junior Masters' slalom and overall titles in 2007.
Morgan, of Odessa, Fla., who earned the top seed in women’s jumping with a 138-foot leap in the elimination round, leaped 137 feet in the finals to win her first career Junior Masters' title. Hensley finished runner-up with a 130-foot jump, followed by France's Manon Costard, who jumped 128 feet.
Pickos, of Santa Rosa Beach, Fla., who earned the top seed in men's tricks by tallying 9,580 points in the elimination round, tallied the same 9,580 points in the finals to win his second career Junior Masters' tricks title. He also won the title in 2005 as a 14-year-old in his first appearance at the event. Martin Kolman of the Czech Republic placed second with 9,220 points, followed by Great Britain's James Earl with 6,080 points.
Wilson, of Winter Springs, Fla., who equaled a personal best and set a Robin Lake Junior Masters' course record of 2 buoys at 39-1/2 feet off in the elimination round of men's slalom, scored 4 buoys at 38 feet off to earn his first career Junior Masters' title. France's Sasha Descuns finished second with 3 buoys at 38 feet off and Sweden's Daniel Efverstrom was third with 1-1/2 buoys at 35 feet off.
Lafferty, of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., won junior men's wakeboarding, scoring 53.67 points. Australia's Mitch Langfield (40.67 points) and Jarrod Askew (32.67 points) placed second and third, respectively.
In other action, France's Iris Cambray won junior women's tricks with 7,650 points. U.S. athletes Erika Lang (5,820 points) and Hensley (5,570 points) finished second and third, respectively. Colombia's Alberto Mejia won men's jumping, leaping 167 feet. Kolman, who won the won the men's overall title with 3,000.0 points, finished second with a jump of 162. U.S. athlete Michael Stevenson of Gilbert, Ariz., who earned the top seed in men's jumping with a 164-foot jump in the elimination round, finished third with a 150-foot jump.
