6 U.S. Athletes Win Junior U.S. Open Titles

U.S. athlete Storm Selsor won titles in men's tricks, jumping and overall.
U.S. athletes Keri McClure (Van Wert, Ohio), Lauren Morgan (Odessa, Fla.) and Storm Selsor (Fremont, Calif.) won overall titles in respective events. McClure, who won the women's overall title tallying 3,000.0 points, also won titles in women's slalom (1/2-buoy at 38 feet off) and jumping (111 feet). Selsor, who won the men's overall title tallying 3,000.0 points, also won titles in men's tricks (9,320 points) and jumping (198 feet). Morgan, who won the girls' overall title tallying 2,445.5 points, also won the girls' jumping title, leaping 132 feet.
U.S. athletes Caroline Cooper (Moneta, Va.), Brooks Wilson (Winter Springs) and K.C. Wilson (Winter Springs, Fla.) also won titles. Cooper won the girls' slalom title, scoring 1 buoy at 35 feet off; Brooks Wilson won the men's slalom title, scoring 2 buoys at 38 feet off; and K.C. Wilson won the boys' slalom title, scoring a ½-buoy at 39-1/2 feet off.
In other events, Sweden's Daniel Efverstrom won the boys' jumping and overall titles (155 feet/2,644.8 points); Mexico's Rodrigo Chapoy won the boys' tricks title, scoring 7,240 points; Mexico's Carolina Chapoy won the girls' tricks title tallying 4,420 points; and Australia's Michale Briant won the women's tricks title, scoring 6,680 points.
Among the preliminary-round highlights, K.C. Wilson earned the top seed for the finals of boys' slalom with a personal best score and Junior U.S. Open record of 3-1/2 buoys at 39-1/2 feet off; Briant earned the top seed for the finals of women's tricks with a Junior U.S. Open record of 7,910 points; and Morgan earned the top seed for the finals of girls' jumping with a leap of 143-foot jump, just one-tenth-of-a-meter shy of tying of the Junior U.S. Open record set by U.S. athlete Caroline Hensley in 2007.
