3 U.S. Water Ski Teams Selected

Lauren Morgan was one of four athletes selected to the 2009 U.S. Junior Water Ski Team.

The American Water Ski Association's International Activities Committee selected three water ski teams – junior, 17 to 21 and under 21 – to represent the United States in international competition this year following the U.S. Water Ski Team Trials, June 19-21, at the Cory Pickos Ski & Wakeboard School in Santa Rosa Beach, Fla.

Due to technical problems with the computer program for the selections to the U.S. Elite Water Ski Team, the elite team selections were not made as scheduled. Selections to the U.S. Elite Water Ski Team, which will compete in the 31st Water Ski World Championships, Aug. 4-9, in Calgary, Alberta, will be announced later this week.

Athletes selected to the U.S. Under 21 Water Ski Team were: Caroline Hensley (Hixson, Tenn.), Alex Lauretano (Morris, Conn.), Adam Pickos (Santa Rosa Beach, Fla.) and Zack Worden (Deltona, Fla.). The team will compete in the 2009 Under 21 Water Ski World Championships, Oct. 29-Nov. 1, in Chapala, Mexico. Selected as alternates were (alphabetical order): Makayla Haw (San Mateo, Calif.), John Lex Kenerly (Jesup, Ga.), Olivia McDonald (Fayetteville, N.C.) and Storm Selsor (Fremont, Calif.). Jim Grew (Winter Haven, Fla.), Regina Jaquess (Suwanee, Ga.) and Brad Harmon (Cleburne, Texas) will serve as captain, coach and physician, respectively.

Athletes selected to the U.S. 17 to 21 Water Ski Team were: John Lex Kenerly (Jesup, Ga.), Keri McClure (Van Wert, Ohio), Storm Selsor (Fremont, Calif.) and Jonathan Travers (Groveland, Fla). The team will compete in the 2009 Can Am Challenge, Sept. 4-6, in Jerseyville, Ill.

Athletes selected to the U.S. Junior Water Ski Team were: Steven Brooks (Canyon Lake, Calif.), Erika Lang (Gilbert, Ariz.), Haywood McDonald (Fayetteville, N.C.) and Lauren Morgan (Odessa, Fla.). The team will compete in the 2009 Can Am Challenge, Sept. 4-6, in Jerseyville, Ill. Selected as non-traveling alternates were (alphabetical order): Makayla Haw (San Mateo, Calif.), Alison Lindy (Circle Pines, Minn.) and Kara McIntyre (Knoxville, Tenn.).

Jody Johnson (Collierville, Tenn.) and Brandi Hunt (Clermont, Fla.) will serve as captain and coach, respectively, of the teams competing in the Can Am Challenge.
