WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Six athletes won national overall titles as the 66th GOODE Water Ski National Championships, presented by Speedo, continued on Aug. 15 at Okeeheelee Park.
Athletes earning national overall titles in respective divisions were: Skip Wintter (Walnut Creek, Calif.), Men 1; Frankie Dees (Mulberry, Fla.), Men 5; Rondi Lang (Gilbert, Ariz.), Women 4; Tadd Schreiber (Johns Island, S.C.), Men 2; Dr. Mike Morgan (Odessa, Fla.), Men 4; and Brenda Baldwin (Windermere, Fla.), Women 3.
More than 800 water ski athletes from across the United States are competing for national titles in slalom, tricks, jumping and overall in respective age divisions and two Open divisions during the five-day tournament that culminates on Saturday beginning at 8 a.m. Admission is free and the public is welcome to attend.
Advancement to the Water Ski National Championships – the world’s largest 3-event water ski tournament – is primarily earned through placement on the national rankings list. Athletes also can qualify for Nationals by placing in the top-five at Regionals or by placing in the top-five at the previous year’s Nationals.
